North Carolina residents are reeling from a massive flood that has destroyed communities and even counties.
People want help. They are thankful they are getting it from churches and non profit agencies. The people we talk to are not giving high marks to the federal government for the FEMA response.
One woman I talked to today said she has only seen six FEMA workers in the month since the flood wrecked their lives.
They need and want help now and are begging for help from anyone that can give it.
We also continue to hear reports of materials and clothing being thrown away that does not have the federal blessing or Red Cross “tag”.
Feds says this is “disinformation” on social media. But this one issue keeps coming up in our conversations with the people trying to survive in western North Carolina.
We need to help these people and we need to get a federal government that will respond and stay engaged for effective results.
That is not what we are hearing.
We will continue to monitor this story.
